From Detroit, take the Breitenbush road FR 46 4 miles north, and turn left on 4696 towards Elk Lake. After .8 mile, turn left on 4697. Go 4 miles and turn right on 451. After .1 mile you will see the road/trail to gold butte- FR 453 on your right. Park here, and it is a 1.6 mile hike to the summit with 800 feet elevation gain.

Other Notes

This road is subject to severe rutting and drainage problems. A 4-wheel drive is recommended, but I have driven my Toyota Corolla here several times with no problems.
