Help:Spur Pages

From Portland Hikers Field Guide

Spur pages are created when a specific topic is covered in extra depth in an article. Instead of the content being included within the article, it is moved into a new page called a spur page.

Type of information When it should be moved Naming Conventions
Trail Logs always name the spur page (Original Article)/Log
Historical information over one paragraph name the spur page (Original Article)/History
Geological information over one paragraph name the spur page (Original Article)/Geology
Flora and fauna information over one paragraph name the spur page (Original Article)/Flora and Fauna
Extra Images more than four images on a single article name the spur page (Original Article)/Gallery

Linking to Spur Pages

To link to the spur pages for an article, create a level two headline titled "Detailed Information" and link the spur pages in a list.

Portland Hikers Field Guide is built as a collaborative effort by its user community. While we make every effort to fact-check, information found here should be considered anecdotal. You should cross-check against other references before planning a hike. Trail routing and conditions are subject to change. Please contact us if you notice errors on this page.
