Description

The final part of the trail to the top of Potato Butte is steep and crumbly. The broad summit is mostly trees, so views are limited. Mount Hood can be seen to the north, and Olallie Butte can be seen to the east.

For a good view to the south, descend back down the trail about 300 yards where you'll see a spur trail going to the left. This takes you to a jumble of big boulders. If you climb up on them, you can see the lakes below and Mount Jefferson directly in front of you to the south.
