Description
Shellburg Falls is a classic Santiam area waterfall. At first glance it looks a lot like North Falls in Silver Falls State Park. The forest is more open in the Shellburg area and is dominated by maples, rather than the firs near North Falls.
A short side trail leads down through a canopy of mossy maples to a viewpoint near the base of the falls. The main trail circles behind the falls in a large natural grotto, before coming out on the other side and climbing a new staircase toward the Upper Shellburg Falls Trailhead.
