Description

The junction of the Umbrella Falls Trail is the first drinking water you find on the Timberline Trail from Timberline Lodge. It's also quite scenic, if you can ignore the Mount Hood Meadows ski area artifacts including a gravel road right next to you. This is the only road that crosses the Timberline Trail.

Just northeast of the trail junction is the gravel road, then Mitchel Creek which is reliable drinking water year round. Then, in the next mile there are a couple decent campsites.

If you're going the other direction, there are a number of places flat enough to camp, although no designated campsites. One spot is a small ridge going down from the trail.

You get some nice views of Mount Hood, the ski area, and areas south including Cascade volcanoes.
