Description

Timberline Lodge is a monument to the public works legacy of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's "New Deal". The lodge provides for a unique overnight stay and fine dining, but day visitors shouldn't miss a visit to the historic lodge, either. The building is a living museum of craftsmanship and folk art, and stands as one of the crowing achievements of the Works Progress Administration. The lodge was personally dedicated by Roosevelt on September 28, 1937, before it was complete. Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt toured the Columbia River Scenic Highway and Hood River Farms en route to the lodge.
