Description

Sometime during the construction of the Tooth Rock Tunnel in 1937, a piece of the older route was blasted or fell on top of the new roadway. Since this severed the old route, it must have been quite late in the construction process. In any event, this created a gap in the road that blocked through passage until 1996, when ODOT built a pedestrian bridge above the east portal of the highway tunnel, reconnecting the old route as a foot/bike path.
