Umbrella Falls

From Portland Hikers Field Guide

Umbrella Falls in Summer (Tom Kloster)

Contents

Description

Mount Hood's most expansive flower displays are found in the vicinity of Hood River Meadows, on the gentle, southeast flank of the volcano. Umbrella Falls on the East Fork Hood River slides over a 120 cascade in the heart of the area. The falls can be reached from the trail descriptions listed above. Some of the natural beauty of the falls was damaged a few years ago by a landslide upstream that sent several large, alpine trees crashing into the creek. But the forces of nature are quickly moving the debris, providing a picturesque scene for visitors.
